Game Changers

Continuous, practical innovation is how Corvirtus differentiates itself from competitors. Even though many constructs of human motivation and competence remain constant as the world and business changes, the context continually evolves.  Consequently, assessments developed a decade ago aren’t the best tools to use today.

Unlike competitors who continue to use the same assessments year after year, Corvirtus is committed to continuous, practical innovation.

Every year, our R&D department develops 8 to 10 new and meaningful instruments for targeted workforce applications. These cutting-edge assessments combine the latest in organizational science with the practical requirements of business.

Following are examples of how we’ve changed the game by providing unique and compelling business solutions to deliver competitive advantage for our customers. We have the expertise, drive and creativity to assess what’s never been measured before.

Best Brand Builders Have the "Hospitality Gene"

The Brand Ambassador Index is a highly unique and effective assessment that measures a person’s feelings about discretionary behaviors  beneficial to one’s organization and coworkers. These “prosociable” behaviors encompass general attitudes about aiding an organization through organizationally compliant acts as well as feelings about voluntarily helping coworkers and customers. More specifically, the BAI examines how an individual feels about the idea of “going above and beyond the call of duty,” both on an individual and organizational level, in order to aid in the overall success of the organization and to effectively create the organization’s intended experience for its customers. Burger King, UMB and the YMCA were critical to developing this highly differentiating assessment. The BAI has been successfully validated across numerous positions and industries, including retail clerks, bank tellers, fast food and casual dining servers, customer service representatives and more.

Track Professionalism Among Commercial Pilots

A large aviation consulting firm partnered with Corvirtus to develop an accurate assessment of professionalism within the highly regulated aviation industry. This novel instrument first assesses an individual’s attitudes concerning the core dimensions of professionalism and follows with a scenario-based assessment of the individual’s emphasis on those same core dimensions.

Improve Wellness of Workers and Companies

An up-and-coming health and wellness program provider asked Corvirtus to help develop a novel approach to the self-assessment and subsequent coaching of an individual’s personal wellness. In response, Corvirtus designed a one-of-a-kind assessment that evaluates an individual’s clinical and personality characteristics, along with readiness for change. Wellness coaches use the resulting insight to tailor wellness programs to an individual’s unique health needs, motivation and personality. Also, coaches are provided with guidance on the types of activities geared to an individual’s disposition and motivation.

Identify Smart People with Good Judgment

Corvirtus situational judgment tests (SJTs) are user-friendly, face-valid and proven to select the right candidates across a variety of jobs. Our robust SJT library has been developed based on real-world workforce scenarios. Our SJTs effectively identify those job candidates who respond in ways deemed most appropriate and, perhaps even more important, those who respond inappropriately.

Identify Drive and Determination

Some leaders have “it” while others don’t. However, the challenge is defining and measuring “it.” After hundreds of expert interviews, many job analyses and extensive research, we developed the Drive for Success Index. This highly targeted assessment, validated at Carrabba’s, Outback Steakhouse and numerous other performance-focused companies, measures a person’s need for constant challenge and achievement, the initiative to lead and create positive change, the ability to focus on completing tasks, and finally, a person’s emotional fortitude to overcome adversity. In the world of work, the DSI identifies those with high potential to manage or lead others, champion change and improvement efforts and drive business success.

Hire Managers Who Run the Company Like Owners

Time and time again, exasperated operators have come to us and asked how we can encourage field managers to “run the business as if they own it.” This is the overarching developmental goal of the Intrapreneurial Potential Profile. It has been designed to help managers understand their potential as an intrapreneur (internal entrepreneur). An intrapreneur is any manager who takes the initiative to develop and implement new ideas and innovative solutions that ultimately grow the business and make it more successful. The tailored IPP report helps a person understand his or her key strengths and opportunities as they relate to performing as an intrapreneur. This information helps an employee make good career decisions that guide them toward future positions. The IPP was deisgned for managers at Primerica and Bonefish Grill (among other companies) and is a proprietary tool used on StartUpPath.com.

Measure the Service-Mindedness of Your People

The Service Potential Profile (SPP) presents several work-related situations indicative of employee experiences that frequently occur in close-knit, service-oriented organizations and environments.  These were situations that Corvirtus uncovered working with Walmart and Goodwill, as well as several other organizations.  In the assessment, each situation is immediately followed by five alternative courses of action (strictly aligned with five well-researched aspects of compelling customer service).  Respondents are asked to read each situation carefully and then respond to each possible course of action.  This tool reveals where  an individual, group, or even an entire organization should focus to have greatest impact on customer service.

Reduce Adverse Impact in Cognitive Assessment

Corvirtus' Workplace Aptitude Test is a cognitive ability measure designed to assess verbal and numerical skills, reasoning ability, problem-solving skills and general work-related mental ability. While cognitive ability is the single best predictor of general performance, cognitive ability tests have come under scrutiny because of potential bias against groups protected under employment law. By taking into account decades of research and incorporating a number of specific suggestions regarding cognitive ability tests, Corvirtus has designed an assessment of cognitive ability that appreciably reduces mean score differences across majority and protected groups while remaining a solid indicator of future job performance. Collaborating with Bethune-Cookman University, New Mexico State University, the University of Houston and Darden Restaurants International, we developed a proprietary hiring tool that has made it easier for our customers to staff their businesses across the United States and around the world, including in ethnically diverse areas.
